As the warmer days approach it’s time to come out of hibernation and get active. These are the top 8 activities and events in Clarington I recommend checking out this spring:

1. Canadian Made Pop-Up Market:

On Saturday April 9th check out the Canadian Made Pop-Up market at Gather in Bowmanville (51 King St. East). Amazing Canadian talent will be featured, including Kira Tree Resources, Chickadee Birdfeeders, Studio Luma, Freckle Face Creations, Tangle & Weave, Emmalicious Candle Co. and many, many more.

2. Easter Eggstravaganza:

On March 26th bring your kiddies to the annual Easter Eggstravaganza, where they can participate in an Easter egg hunt, meet the Easter bunny and get their face painted. This free event will be taking place at the Kid’s Safety Village, and organizers are asking people to bring donations of non-perishable food items for local food banks. Visit www.durhamsafetyvillage.com for more information

3. Girl’s Night Out:

On April 21st it’s time to get dressed up and grab your girlfriends to shop and dine in beautiful downtown Bowmanville. Stores are open late for this ladies shopping event (until 10 PM), and there are a number of tasty restaurants and bars to explore. To learn more visit www. bowmanville.com/events/girls-night-out

4. Maplefest:

On May 7th treat yourself to a heaping pile of pancakes, maple syrup-inspired treats, live musicians and visits from our furry friends at the Bowmanville Zoo. The event is taking place in Historic Downtown Bowmanville. www.bowmanville.com/events/maple-festival

5. Durham Farm Connections Open House:

Nowhere is Spring more lively than on the farmyard. Get to know your local farmers and how they grow and produce the food they put on our tables. Held on April 6th, this free event (organizers are asking for donations of non-perishable food items) will have live demonstrations, children’s planned activities and the opportunity to meet local farmers and their livestock. For more information visit www.durhamfarmconnections.ca.

6.  Spring Food & Wine Festival:

Taste and explore some of the best food and wine Ontario has to offer, while also supporting Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Clarington. The festival will be held at the Newcastle Community Hall & Garden, Saturday June 4th, 2016 and all proceeds will be going towards the mentorship program. Tickets are available online or at the door. www.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/clarington/en/Home/events/foodandwine.aspx
